Understanding.

I am back from a long Hiatus of Elliot related news. Two recent events have stood out particularly which I would like to share with everyone.
First, Elliot has begun walking. Two Fridays past I guess, he made his first room crossing toddle chasing after his mommy. The event was caught on a cell phone camera to be enjoyed for years and years to come. After that, he didn't really walk around much, but again the other night he was walking across the room chasing mommy. It's obvious from how he stands and moves around now that he could walk easily if he wanted to, but mostly he seems not yet to quite believe that he can do it and only takes a step or two between objects when he's not thinking about it too much. Which is why he can follow his mother across the room as long as she stays only a step or two in front of him.
The second event was a little less ordinary. Reading a book to Elliot last night, Hitomi came to a page with a monster on it. When she read the words and said monster (in Japanese "kaijuu") he immediately turned and pointed to another book he loves dearly, "Where the Wild Things Are". In Japanese, wild things is translated as "kaijuu". He had made the connection between the monster in the book Hitomi was reading and the monsters in another book. We were both so impressed with him and he seemed quite pleased with himself as well. It as a very happy moment for everyone.
